Traditional Martial Arts 

  Welcome to Tohashi Dojo. A private Dojo (martial art school) dedicated to to the study of traditional Japanese and Okinawan martial arts, Karate Do, Aiki-Jutsu, Kobudo and Iaido. Building self confidence, strong bodies and good character through the study of these traditional arts.


​  Tohashi translates   "To" Climb,  High Stadest and "Hashi" Bridge. Tohashi is also the first phonetic syllable of each of renowned martial arts teachers; Soke Shian Toma, All Okinawa Seidokan Karate Kobudo Renmei. (Ret) Col. Roy Hobbs, Hanshi, President of Sekai Dentokan Bugei Renmei Inc. and Masayuki Shimabukuro, Hanshi President of Nippon Kokusai Budo Kai last names.

  This dojo reflects their teachings. Tohashi Dojo, is in honor of my teachers, their hard work and dedication they have made to help others in their study of traditional arts. 

  Sadly, Shian Toma, Soke  All Okinawa Seidokan Karate Kobudo Tuite Renmei, passed away on May 23 2012 in Okinawa at the age of 82.  Masayuki Shimabukuro, Hanshi  President and Founder Kokusai Nippon Budo Kai, died, September 12 2012 in San Diego, California at the age of 64. 


Sensei Hobbs and the Sekai Dentokan Bugei Renmei holds a wealth of knowledge that few can match. Tohashi Dojo is the only dojo on the West Coast that teaches a full Dentokan syllabus.
